Dartmouth What is it?

Training for Life’s first Prospect Centre outside London. Housed in the former St Barnabas Church, Training for Life Dartmouth provides integrated temporary accommodation for local homeless people.

The Prospect Centre also offers hospitality-based training to enable disadvantaged people to change their lives for the better. Key to this is the social enterprise restaurant, the Dartmouth Apprentice. The restaurant provides apprentices with a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

A little background...

In 2003, South Hams District Council and Spectrum Housing (now Signpost Care Partnership) came together to seek to develop St Barnabas as a community facility with supported accommodation. Training for Life was approached in 2006 with a view to converting the church into the original planned flats for homeless and unemployed people, but now as a social enterprise restaurant modelled on the Hoxton Apprentice in London.
